Biography

Named in CBC Music’s list of "30 hot Canadian classical musicians under 30" Young Steinway Artist Arthur Wang received his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from the Juilliard School under the tutelage of Jerome Lowenthal. He won the Juilliard Gina Bachauer Piano Competition, as well as the Grand Prize in the Music for Humanity Scholarship Competition.


In September 2022, his performance in Juilliard’s Paul Hall was broadcast live on WQXR in New York. He was also awarded second prize, and was the youngest finalist at the 2019 Young Concert Artists International Auditions. In the summer of 2020, he was the third grand prize winner in the professional division of the Chicago International Music Competition. Other awards include top prizes at The Hilton Head International Piano Competition for Young Artists, The Bösendorfer and Yamaha USASU International Piano Competition, The Juilliard Mieczyslaw Munz Piano Competition, The Enschede International Piano Competition for Young Musicians, and The Midwest International Piano Competition.


Arthur has performed in prestigious venues such as the Merkin Concert Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Wilmersberg Zaal, Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center, Salle Molière, Queen Elizabeth Theater, Chan Centre for the Performing Arts, and the Vancouver Playhouse.


Arthur also is an avid ensemble musician, having played piano quintets, quartets, trios, and piano duo with his sister, Angeni Wang. Their piano duo won first place in the 2014 North West International Piano Ensemble Competition.


Arthur started his piano studies at the age of six. In 2012, at 11 years of age, he earned his Associate Diploma (A.R.C.T.) with First Class Honors from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto after completing all the practical and theoretical requirements. Prior to starting at Juilliard, Arthur also studied privately with renowned pianists Sasha Starcevich, Li Xiao, and Ilana Vered.
